Donation
A cute looking guy came to me, asked me for $10 donation. I looked at him with suspicious eyes. I am most willing to help the less fortunate but sorry I doubted the charity organisations these days. I have too many bad experiences with them.
Besides the NKF scandal, I was fooled by other organisations too in the past. They were so convincing, showing the licence they had, the ID pass and some documents. Then they attracted you with the lucky draws or discount coupons etc. Initially, I didn't care about all these attractions. I donated my money for charity, not for other purposes.
Then one day, out of curiosity, flapping to the lucky draw date on the back of the donation coupon, I realised the date had expired long before. I wondered if the volunteer had cheated the organisation by re-used the expired donation coupon, sold it and keep the money for herself? I hate being cheated, why must she lied to me about lucky draw that no longer exists?
There was a website printed on the coupon, I surfed the site but it doesn't exist as well. Isn't it obvious? I was cheated by a organisation that in the first place doesn't live at all.
My second experience was a friend of mine brought a similar charity coupon that came with food discounts. So we went to the restaurant and were astonished to find the restaurant closed down. And we had travelled a great distance for that! It really makes some sense that these people are selling out-of-date coupons or "dead" coupons.
Have you also noticed that sometimes you saw a little note in the coupon that said 30% of the proceeds go to XXX home while the rest goes to building of worship places and schools? Why do these volunteers said "you are donating to the needy", giving the impression that you are giving 100% to the home?
These people acted like they were angels from heaven, coming down to help these less fortunates. And they cheated you by giving inaccurate information. I hated being cheated by these "angels".
What happened about the cute guy? I was looking at the licence and the document hard. Then he was saying "oh O oh O oh O". I am not sure if he was saying this because he was afraid that I might find some crime clues or he saw a security guard walking to his direction. He was chased away by the guard before I could do any transaction. Lucky? If he wants to cheat me... Oh yes, I saw him again in another shopping area few hours later but he was no longer asking for donation. Isn't it weird?
He shouldn't stop and try harder to get more money if it is for charity. Don't you think so? It is all these culprits that cause such mistrust on the charity organisations.
